Day of Giving 2018

Day of Giving - Fresno State D.O.G.

The Henry Madden Library is ready to Feed the D.O.G. for the second annual Fresno State Day of Giving on Thursday, November 1, 2018. This powerful 24-hour online fundraising marathon rallies the community to give back and celebrate Fresno State. As the heartbeat of campus and a symbol of student success, the Library is naturally a critical component of this campaign.

The Library is asking the community to support three main priorities for Day of Giving:

  1. Henry Madden Library General Support
  2. Visualization Studio
  3. Student Arts Programming

This year the Library is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its 2009 grand reopening after the building underwent a massive remodel and expansion. More than 12 million people have passed through the doors of the North Wing since they first opened ten years ago. In that time, the Library has continued to evolve and grow.

“The Library has been a huge part of my success at Fresno State,” said Jacqueline Gonzalez, a junior Business Marketing major, “It’s a place where I know everyone is welcome and I can connect with classmates on projects.”

Today, 13 librarians work in the Library across to link it with every single Fresno State college, specializing in dozens of subjects throughout the academic spectrum. These librarians use their subject matter expertise to help students and staff to learn about various library services and navigate more than 2 million library resources.

The Library is also home to a growing Tech Lending department, which allows students and faculty to check out laptops, GoPro cameras, tablets, phone chargers, 3D printers and more. The Music & Media collection offers the largest music collection in the CSU system, and is home to media labs which offer the latest technology for graphic design, audio recording, and video editing.

“The Library isn’t just about quietly studying anymore, it’s a place for students to collaborate and create,” said Del Hornbuckle, dean of library services, “We’re proud to provide these important resources to our students, who come from every single college and major on campus.”
