Donation Box Policy

The Fresno State Library supports donation drives organized by recognized student clubs, organizations, and university departments. To ensure fair use of library space and maintain an organized environment, all donation box requests must follow the guidelines below.

Eligibility

Only recognized student clubs/organizations and university departments are eligible to place donation boxes in the Fresno State Library.

Reservation Process

  1. All donation box requests are to be submitted at least 5 business days prior to the start of the requested reservation date.

    • Requests are processed on a first come first served basis.
    • A maximum of three (3) donation boxes may be displayed in the library at any given time.
    • Upon approval, a confirmation email will be sent to the requester.
    • If a request cannot be accommodated,the requester will be notified via email.
    • Approval is not guaranteed and depends on space availability and scheduling considerations.
  2. Each group may display only one (1) donation box per semester.
  3. Donation boxes may remain in the Fresno State Library for a maximum of (2) weeks. Extensions are not permitted.

Donation Box Requirements

  1. The sponsoring group must provide and clearly label its own donation box. Labels must include:

    • The name of the sponsoring organization or department.
    • The dates of the collection period.
    • A description of accepted items (examples include, but are not limited to, clothing, non-perishable food items, school supplies, etc.).
  2. Monetary donations (cash, coins, checks, etc) are strictly prohibited in donation boxes.
  3. The sponsoring group is responsible for monitoring and emptying the donation box regularly to prevent overflow or clutter.
  4. The sponsoring group is responsible for advertising the presence of the donation box.

Liability and Responsibility

The Fresno State Library is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items placed in the donation box.
