Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is available to authorized faculty, staff and students of CSU Fresno only. All other patrons should use the Interlibrary Loan services available at their local libraries.

Loan Period
When requesting material, allow ample time. Submit requests at least two weeks before material is needed.
The loan period is determined by the lending library. The average loan period is approximately 2-3 weeks.
Renewal requests must be made before the due date by completing a renewal request online or by contacting the Interlibrary Loan Office.
Items Available for Loan
Books, some dissertations, journal articles, and microform can usually be borrowed/photocopied through Interlibrary Loan. Materials may not be borrowed for class reserve or other long term use. The following materials are usually NOT available for loan:
- Titles owned by the Library (if an item is checked out, you may place a search/hold on it at the Circulation Desk).
- Textbooks
- Recently published books
- Some dissertations (Those unavailable for loan can usually be purchased through commercial sources such as UMI.)
- Entire issues of periodicals
- Reference, very old, or fragile books
- Audiovisual materials
- Software
Fees and Charges
There are usually no fees for borrowing material from Interlibrary Loan. If a dissertation is not available for loan, you can usually purchase it directly through UMI at http://www.umi.com/
Material Pick-up
You will be notified by e-mail when your material arrives at the Library. Photocopied articles will be electronically delivered through the Interlibrary Loan web page. Books require a Fresno State ID card in order to be checked out.
Web Document Delivery
ILLIAD is the electronic system you use to request and access your Interlibrary Loan account. With your user name and password, you will be able to download and print your journal articles, ask for renewals and check the status of your Interlibrary Loan requests. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (https://get.adobe.com/reader/) in order to view, download, and print these articles.
Overdue Policy
You will be notified of overdue fees and will be required to pay any fines in the same manner as other Fresno State Library fines. Please contact Circulation for overdue policies.
Copyright Restrictions
The United States (Title 17, The copyright law of the United States) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Some material may not be available due to copyright restrictions.
