As the subject librarian and liaison to KSOEHD, I can:

  • Provide research consultations to students and faculty at any stage of the process
  • Provide instructional sessions in the library or in your classrooms
  • Host and develop workshops on various topics related to information literacy, education, and research
  • Create course- or subject-specific research guides and instructional videos for asynchronous online courses upon request
  • Take requests for book, database, or journal purchases and assist with course reserves and identifying open educational resources (OERs)

Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities

Current Research Interests:

My current research interests are situated at the intersection of historical epistemology, archives, academic librarianship, and education. It examines how historical knowledge is produced, mediated, and authorized through libraries, archives, and education, with particular attention to the accessibility and discoverability of underutilized collections, critical information literacy and pedagogy, archival silences, and inclusive archival description and practice.

Professional Biography and Personal Interests

I am a historian and academic librarian whose work is informed by my interdisciplinary training in history, archives, and library and information science. I earned my Ph.D. in History from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a Master of Library and Information Science with a graduate certificate in archival studies from Louisiana State University.

Prior to joining California State University, Fresno, I gained experience in public libraries, archives, museums, and teaching at the postsecondary level, where my work focused on archival research, primary source instruction, and connecting students and researchers with unique and underutilized collections. These experiences continue to shape my approach to research, teaching, and librarianship.
