Short Links and QR Codes

Image created by Freepik
You've likely just followed a short link or QR code created by one of our library employees. Using a short link and QR code from our official library domain ("fslib.link") offers numerous benefits, making it easier for our patrons to access trusted resources efficiently. Let's first define what these two things are:
- A Short Link is a condensed version of a long URL, created to make it easier to share and remember. It typically redirects to the original, longer web address when typed in or when a link is clicked.
- A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores data in the form of black and white squares. When scanned with a smartphone or a QR code reader, it quickly redirects users to a specific piece of information, such as a website, contact details, or a file.
Our librarians and staff use both short links and QR codes in marketing and educational materials to provide quick access to online resources, services, or promotional content.
