Michael Gorman served with distinction as Dean of Library Services at the Library, California State University, Fresno from 1988 to 2007. A prolific author, gifted educator, scholar, and speaker, Gorman is most famous for his work as the editor of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, second edition (1978) and of the revision (1998). Michael Gorman also served as President of the American Library Association in 2005 to 2006.
In addition to being a significant figure in library history, Michael Gorman is an avid mystery reader. In 2009, he donated a core collection of mystery novels for leisure reading and thus, the Michael Gorman Mystery Collection was born.
The collection continues to grow through the generous donations of mystery books by individuals who share his love of the genre.
