Borrow from Other Libraries
If the library doesn't have the materials you need, we can usually get it for you from another library, through CSU+ or Interlibrary Loan. You can check out our FAQ on these services for more information.
Borrow via CSU+
CSU+ allows you to borrow from all 23 CSU campuses. Why use this service:
- Find and request books and media from CSU campus libraries.
- Materials arrive in 2-4 business days.
- Most books have 60 day lending periods, no renewals. Media items (DVD's, audio CD's, etc.) usually 30 days, no renewals.
- Select the CSU+ Books and Media collection in Onesearch to find and request materials.
Get started by:
- Start at the library homepage in the OneSearch form field, or go directly to OneSearch, and type in the name of the item you want.
- From the results screen, if the item doesn't appear, you can either:
- Use the dropdown menu by the search box to change the search scope to "CSU+ Books & Articles," or
- Choose the link at top left for "All CSU Libraries (CSU+)."
- If the item is available through CSU+, it should appear in the results with a link that says "Request this item from other libraries." Choose the link and you should see "Get It" buttons with options for requesting the item from another library:
- "Get a physical copy" will place a request for the item to be sent to Fresno State. You'll receive an email when it is ready to be picked up.
- "Need a chapter?" will let you request a scan of a single chapter of a whole book. You'll get an email when the scan is ready to download.
Borrow via Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan allows you to get access to materials from libraries worldwide. Why use this service:
- Request articles and books not in CSU+ (not textbooks) through interlibrary loan.
- Books typically arrive in 7-10 business days, articles in 2-3 business days.
- Loan period for books varies, as is set by lending library. Articles arrive in PDF format and are accessible for 30 days.
Start the borrow process by:
- Login to Interlibrary Loan with your campus user name and password. (You must use your Fresno State email address.)
- Choose the item type to be borrowed from the "New Requests" menu and fill in the form with as much information as you can.
- You will receive an email once the requested material has arrived. (Articles will be delivered via your ILLiad account and available for 30 days.)

Other Options for Libraries
There are many other libraries in California from which you can gain access to resources. With over 40 locations, Fresno County Library is an excellent resource for many digital and print items our Library doesn’t subscribe to, including a wide array of popular reading materials, digitized Fresno County history collections, LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com), and Mango Languages.
