Fresno State Library
Getting Started With ArcGIS Online
In this step-by-step guide you will learn the basics of using ArcGIS Online, namely: how to sign in with your Fresno State account, access Esri Academy training, and create, edit, delete, and share layers, web maps, and Instant Apps—plus styling, filtering, running a simple overlay analysis, and restoring items from the recycle bin. Pause anytime and follow along at your own pace.

Troubleshooting assistance:
- Can’t sign in? Make sure you’re logged into your browser with your @mail.fresnostate.edu account and choose the “Fresno State Organization” Login (not the ArcGIS login).
- Missing layers? Check the eye (visibility) toggles, layer draw order, and transparency.
- Analysis shows credits? That’s expected—use Estimate credits first; Fresno State accounts include standard credits.
- App not reflecting map changes? Save the web map—Instant Apps update from the saved map.
- Still stuck? Reach out to the IT Service Desk or GIS support (links above).
