Impact Assessment
I believe my focal student would enjoy the book “Chato’s Kitchen” however I also think it might confuse him on the fact that the book reflects many stereotypes of Hispanic culture. My student is proud of his culture and loves talking about his different experiences, however I would not want to expose him to the unfair and harsh stereotypes that have been associated with Mexican and Hispanic culture that are depicted in the book. On the other hand I think my student would enjoy seeing his culture being represented in a book however I believe there are more appropriate alternatives that my student can read and learn from.
