Reflection Three for The Rainbow Fish
This analysis was accomplished in December 2023 using the following prompt template .
Analysis Summary
Problematic morals and messages
In the rainbow fish the main character feels very entitled because he is different from everyone else. He has an inflated ego. He does not want to socialize with others who do not meet his standards physically. He was very prideful of his uniqueness/looks at the beginning of the story but he then gives up his uniqueness to fit in with everyone else. Rather than teaching children to embrace their differences this book is teaching children that they have to be like everyone else to fit in.
Impact Assessment
This text might impact my focal student by allowing my student to see that it is fine to be different from others. Another thing that this text can impact my focal student is by showing that they do not have to change to fit in or make friends. Just because someone is different from others they should not be ashamed and they should be comfortable and confident in being themselves. That is what I would want my focal student want to take away from this selected text.
